Looking ahead, 2018

Happy New year to all! We hope you are settling in nicely to the new year.

As we’ve been enjoying the extended warm weather on our bikes here in Colorado the end of 2017 left us with plenty to reflect upon.
The past year we had a lot of personal loss- saying goodbye to dear friends who have left us too early was beyond challenging. While we still adjust to the idea of life without them we are fortunate to be left with wonderful memories and our common love for cycling. Moving forward into the new year we hope to embrace each day with the legacy that each left behind: kindness, creativity, endurance, and the explicit love for life.
A great blessing in 2017 was meeting so many truly wonderful people on our tours. It was a season of fulfillment and we are thankful for each individual that we had the pleasure of hosting in Italy. With a rather dim year in so many respects we are impressed with how restorative being around great people and reveling in life together is. We are thankful for the great community each of you helps create.
A bit of celebration follows us into 2018 with Andy’s 30th anniversary win of the Giro. We are looking forward to squeezing some new stories out of him throughout the year, and especially, during our tour season. We’ll dedicate a good part of this year’s 1988 Giro d’Italia Retake tour to the remembering, retracing, and retelling of Andy’s epic experience. If you’re looking for your own mountain action we still have spaces available on our equally ambitious Italian Peaks tour; Andy stories guaranteed.
Of course, our love for Tuscany is unwavering, and we look forward to hosting three tours in the region showcasing the tried and true alongside our new discoveries (mostly revolving around routes leading to new cafes! food! wine!)
Closer to home we are excited to be part of the opening of the Astro Hotel in Santa Rosa, Ca. this January 18th. Santa Rosa is a riding destination near and dear to Andy’s heart with many of his early training days taking place here. Cinghiale looks forward to developing the Astro’s full potential as a cycling friendly inn, hosting tours in the area in the near(ish) future. In the meantime, check it out for yourself, and tell all of your friends.

Let’s lift our glasses to the prospects of 2018 and do our best to fill the year with joy and adventure!

-Cheers from the Cinghiale team
